About

Cody graduated from DSM (Downeast School of Massage) in Waldoboro, Maine. Throughout various coursework, he has taken favor towards therapeutic massage modalities, such as sports and deep tissue massage. His massages are not only therapeutic but are also relaxing.

He aims to show his clients this, as deep tissue massage is not always needed to have a therapeutic effect, and various levels of pressure may be appropriate. In other words, deep tissue massage and intense pressure are not always needed to attain therapeutic relief. Lighter to more moderate pressures are effective, and even preferred in some client's cases.

Prior to massage school, Cody earned his BS in Kinesiology, with a Concentration in Exercise from UMaine in 2017. He practiced as a fitness trainer off-and-on until he started schooling at DSM in 2022.

Cody believes that massage therapy and exercise are some of the largest pillars for maintaining quality health and wellness. To further increase the benefits, he also believes in taking advantage of massage and fitness in combination.

Systematic reviews suggest that massage therapy:

  • has key biological factors in regulating inflammation and reducing cellular stress from musculoskeletal injury,

  • reduced post-exercise pain and perceived fatigue, attenuated inflammatory signals of exercise-induced muscle injury,

  • improved muscle strength and self-perception of exercise-induced muscle injury,

  • restoration of heart rate variability and diastolic blood pressure,

  • acute relief of muscle soreness after exercise,

  • reduced muscle tension, post-exercise serum creatine kinase, swelling and respiratory pattern disorders, which help to prevent injuries. GuangxinEffectiveness and safety of massage for athletic injuries - PMC (nih.gov)
